GREASY BEATS are a funky music machine that hails from Los Angeles and features some of the most talented, in-demand session musicians in Southern California.

Members have performed and or recorded with such notable artists/bands as the Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Sergio Mendez, Cake, Money Mark, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, The Breakestra, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Jason Mraz, Melvin Sparks, Eddie Bo, Mike Andrews, Inara George, Marc Broussard, The Southland, Pseudopod, Connie Price & The Keystones and Jive to name a few.

The sounds of 100% straight up funk and soul will be reverberating around the Bay Area as the Los Angeles based all-star funky music machine GREASYBEATS makes its return to Northern California Saturday at the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco.

GREASYBEATS are an all-star funky music machine that hails from Los Angeles and features some of the most respected, in-demand young musicians in Southern California. Every individual in this funky gang of musicians has made their mark on the music scene. Members have performed/recorded with such notable bands/artists as the Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Cake, Mos Def, Cut Chemist, Money Mark, Jason Mraz, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, The Breakestra, Melvin Sparks, DJ Logic and Jive to name a few. Also many notable stars of the jam band and acid-jazz/funk scene have sat-in or appeared as a guest with The GB’s, including Chris Stillwell, Mike Andrews and Robert Walter (of the Greyboy Allstars), Stanton Moore (Galactic), Cheme Gastelum (20th Congress), Brian Jordan (KDTU), Steve Molitz (Particle) and Sam Kinninger (Soulive).

Lead by Bay Area born saxophonist Joel Bowers, THE GREASY BEATS have firmly established their reputation as the hardest working funk & soul band in Southern California with successful extended residences at both the world famous Roxy Theatre in Hollywood and the Temple Bar in Santa Monica. “The formula is simple,” says Bowers “Put some of the best musicians on the same stage, with the common goal of making the music funky as hell!” He continues, “All of us in the band have a deep respect for the genre of funk, and what makes things innately funky. As Bootsy Collins said, “You can’t fake the FUNK!” and the Greasy Beats take that statement to heart. Our goal as a band is to represent our funk forefathers, and continue to develop and refine that groove.”

So tell all your funky friends to shake that thang’ down to the BOOM BOOM ROOM and get on down to the heavy syncopations of GREASY BEATS live and direct!
