Anyone up for a road trip or two? There has been some discussion about a group trip out to Rancho Nicasio for the Monophonics show on March 28th. Let us know what your plans are for that one so we can all coordinate. Do I hear party bus?? And if that isn't far enough for you, we are also planning a trip to Tahoe with Monophonics for April 19th at Alpine Meadows! (They are hoping to play a 4/20 gig if anyone has any ideas)

Weds 3/12/08 - Doug Ferrari & Friends @ The Purple Onion - 8pm - Featuring Aundre the Wonderwoman with Lisa Geduldig and Political Comedy Panel *3 PAIRS* BISS COMEDY NIGHT EVERY WEDNESDAY - Doug is an San Francisco native and headliner who won the SF Comedy Competition, has appeared on 25 TV comedy shows, and worked with everybody from Bob Hope to Robin Williams. He is one of the great Elder Statesman Of SF Comedy. AundrĂ© has been described as "The Queen of Nothing Sacred" and takes on everything from animal lovers to presidential politics. AundrĂ© the Wonderwoman is an unforgettable performer, telling the truth in a funny way. Lisa Geduldig is a San Francisco-based stand-up comic and comedy producer. Lisa is the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of annual comedy shows—Kung Pao Kosher Comedy: Jewish Comedy on Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant (now in its 15th year); and The George Bush Going Away Party.


3/13/08 - The Monophonics plus Sugarshack opens @ Starry Plough *2 PAIRS* Recognized for their retro sound, style, and approach (primarily inspired by late '60s and early '70s artists like The Meters, The J.B.'s, The Crusaders, and Tower of Power) members of Monophonics continue to rep. the name through performances, sit-ins, and collaborations with local and touring acts in The Bay Area.


3/13 & 3/14 - Steve Kimock & Friends @ Great American Music Hall - featuring Melvin Seals, Hutch Hutchinson, Billy Goodman & John Morgan Kimock *PAIR EACH NIGHT PLUS a signed CD* Steve Kimock gets back to his Bay Area roots with a very special line- up of old and new FRIENDS. SK&F, Kimock's feel-good side project for more than a decade. Kimock is basing the group around an old friend, the Great, Melvin Seals on B-3 organ and keyboards, along with prodigal son, John Morgan Kimock on drums. Joining them are, veteran bassist Hutch Hutchinson and singer/songwriter Billy Goodman, of the Goodman Brothers, the band that first brought Kimock West to the Bay Area in the mid '70's.Fans will be treated to new songs, being incubated in the Kimock laboratory, known as the performance stage, as well as renewed renditions of acclaimed Kimock standards and covers.


3/14/08 - *LATE NITE SHOW* - FRED WESLEY'S HOUSE PARTY (*JAMES BROWN's* funky horns) w/ NoLa's *GROOVESECT* @ Boom Boom Room *1 PAIR* THIS SHOW features an amazingly electrifying opening act which will get the party started and build up the energy with their funky dance-charged grooves... and then *GROOVESECT* & *FRED WESLEY* take the stage at midnite and play two big sets 'til 3:00AM +.Groovesect is a New Orleans based funk band formed in 2006. Recently voted Whereyat magazine's 1 New Orleans funk band and 2 in the contemporary jazz category. Fred Wesley (Trombonist of the Famous JAMES BROWN horn section 'The J.B.'s) joins Groovesect both on their debut album most recently released and at the BOOM BOOM ROOM on Friday and Saturday night.


3/15/08 - FRED WESLEY'S HOUSE PARTY w/ Groovesect PLUS Monophonics opens @ Boom Boom Room *1 PAIR* Don't Miss This JAMES BROWN stylin' New Orleans Supa-Funk and more heavy groovin' than you thought possible! Fred Wesley (Trombonist of the Famous JAMES BROWN horn section 'The J.B.'s) joins Groovesect both on their debut album most recently released and at the BOOM BOOM ROOM on Friday and Saturday night.
