BISS 2.16.11 - BISS Entertainment Presents "Make A Scene" with Afrofunk Experience & High Beamz @ The Boom Boom Room!!
Dear BISS Listers, Based on your contributions to the music community in San Francisco, you are being cordially invited to participate in a completely unique opportunity, bringing our local musicians and fans together to "make a scene" and define the direction and quality of music locally. In order for this ongoing project to be successful, we need every one of you to participate as headliners, openers, sit-ins & fans!
At this time, we have three confirmed dates at The Boom Boom Room for the event: February 17, March 24, and April 21. We will kick off the first one this Thursday night, Feb 17th with Afrofunk Experience headlining & High Beamz opening. (Eric Levy of Garaj Mahal, Cecil Pnut Daniels, Mark Murphy of Izabella, Mo Sardella of Sol Rising, Chris Zanardi of Five Eyed Hand, & Andrew Ferren)
Let us give you more detail about this event...
What is "Make a Scene"? Make a Scene will be a monthly residency at the Boom Boom Room, presented by BISS Entertainment. It will take place on the third Thursday of each month (March being an exception so far) to ensure consistency for our audiences. At each event, there will be an opening band which may be either an up and coming local band or a super group side project, followed by a second set from the headline band, followed by a third set of well organized (by RSVP Only) jamming sit-ins, hosted by the headliner, with a plethora of local performers, as well as, other talented musicians that may be playing at different local venues that evening.
What is the goal and why is this different? Right now, we are blessed with many, many talented local musicians and bands. Each of those carry a fan base of differing sizes and interests. The goal of Make a Scene is to bring this talent together enabling the participants to: 1) expose new fans to their music, 2) help generate "buzz" and momentum around the local music scene that will grow and help increase popularity of the participating musicians, 3) bring musicians together who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to play on the same stage, and 4) TO HAVE FUN AND MAKE INCREDIBLE MUSIC FOR ALL TO ENJOY!!!!!!
What are the expectations? What we need from you is a commitment to participate. You must have the foresight and enthusiasm for the concept and a desire to grow the SF music scene for long term benefit through a community effort. SF really can be a mecca for incredible music, much like what has been happening for the past several years in NYC through clubs like Brooklyn Bowl, where incredible musicians are drawing HUGE audiences and gaining notoriety by working together towards a common goal. This is a movement, not a single event, and we want to know that those of you accepting this opportunity are on board with that concept.
We are extremely excited about this event and the potential for all of you. We hope that you share our enthusiasm and vision for what this event can become through your dedication and desire to "Make a Scene" in San Francisco!
Peace, love, and (of course) music!
