No wait, some of us are still here!!! While the queen of BISS and most of the crew is away, she has put this Princess (check out Diaries of a Tenderloin Princess at http://diariesoftenderloinprincess.blogspot.com), aka her Vice President of Awesomeness, aka the BISSistant, aka Sunny, in charge ...so let's get down to trouble, because I would not have it any other way.
Yes peeps, it does blow as hard as Karl D. plays the saxophone that we are not going to High Sierra. Good thing "Plan B" involves this wonderful city by the bay, because the city does not disappoint.
Wednesday.....I still have to toss a coin........To do IVAN NEVILLE'S DUMPSTAPHUNK (Congrats to Melissa H, Barry C, & Emily W) up in Petaluma at the Mystic or do I go to one of my most beloved venues in the city, The Independent for DR. DOG? (Congrats to Matthew T. and Harvey P.) No matter what you know I am going to end up at my home away from home, the Boom Boom Room for a personal fave, THE PLEASURE SESSIONS (*WIN) to put a perfect night cap on a pleasurable evening.
Thursday, I think I'll keep it in the Mission For JACK O' THE CLOCK at Brick and Mortar (*WIN) then hit up the Elbo Room for the dance party that is AFROLICIOUS (*WIN)...that being said, if I am still not tired, it's off to the Boom Boom Room for THE CONGRESS (*WIN)...(hey, I have a legend to live up to...I think I have to hit up at least 3 shows a night to do okay)
Friday, all I want is to see Warren...but it's sold out and a hard ticket to get, so not so sure. I may only do two shows in the city just so I can get well rested for the day that is Saturday. So on Friday night, THE RAY BAND (*WIN) is playing at Brick and Mortar and then I am off to get funky, swamp funky that is, at the Boom Boom Room with THE HONEY ISLAND SWAMP BAND (*WIN)...always a dirty good time...totally. Did you know that this great NOLA band has roots in SF?? Check it out! http://Sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/06/28/DD0N1K19QO.DTL
Saturday I am waking up and butt walking early so I can get started with the Filmore Jazz Festival which is FREE!!!!!!!!!!! Then I'm off to The Marin County Fair for 7 WALKERS. I will make sure I wear my best princess dress for such a festivity. Afterward, why not eat some crawfish with THE HONEY ISLAND SWAMP BAND at Rocker Oysterfeller's,(*WIN) looking at the mountains roll away as I feed my belly. And you all know with an ass like mine, I will be sure to be at YOUR MAMMA'S BIG FAT BOOTY BAND (*WIN)at the Boom Boom Room. Might also stop by Yoshi's for Grandmaster Flash!
Speaking of Fillmore Jazz Festival, be sure not to miss Marco Benevento both days (one acoustic, one electric), California Honeydrops, Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet and more. http://www.fillmorejazzfestival.com/
Sunday my fine ass has to work a double but if I didn't I would totally hit up the second day of the FILMORE JAZZ FESTIVAL then head over to Stern Groove so I can rock out to NEKO CASE.
Monday, Happy Fourth of July!!! Firecrackers...awesomeness, totally. Don't forget about FREE jazz that night and every Monday in North Beach with Joe Cohen at Mojito!
And by then I will be so antsy in my pantsy cause WIDESPREAD PANIC IS COMING TO TOWN...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, and GEORGE CLINTON...and Buckethead and Rev Horton Heat...and Jimmy Vaughan...and Jerry Joseph...shut the front door..........
Plan B...BISS
Works for me..........times 11

BISS 6.23.11 - Zigaboo / Will Bernard / Vinyl / Almost High Sierra!
Happy almost High Sierra BISS Listers!!! We are so excited we could not wait until next week or even til the end of the BISS list to talk about High Sierra Music Fest!!! BISS is ecstatic to present Audio Angel performing with Ernest Ranglin and as artist at large all weekend long!! Make sure to look & listen for her all weekend as well as other BISS bands, Materialized and Tracorum. That's not even to mention the rest of the amazing line-up this year which you can check out on the High Sierra web site. http://www.highsierramusic.com
This is one of those fine weeks in the city by the bay that no matter how you spin it you will land on great music...so let's spin!
On Thursday night the BISS crew lands at the Fillmore for Jorma Kaukonen & David Bromberg, sure to make you gyrate. Then give it a whirl through the Mission to the Elbo Room forAfrolicious. (*WIN)
Friday night you might get dizzy...We'll start in the East Bay at the Fox where My Morning Jacket will make the orbit spin a little wider then twirl your fine self down the street to the New Parish where BISS favorite Zigaboo Modeliste (*WIN) will be funkin' it up on the drums!
If you like to get dizzy, then do a tailspin over to the Ashkenaz for Great American Taxi. (*WIN) Then spin yourself around and head back to the city where Will Bernard (Congrats to Jennifer & Carrie) brings us to center at Yoshi's. Then head on over to the Boom Boom Room to spin it old school with Vinyl (Congrats to Christian)...always a crowd pleaser. If you have been reading your BISS List, you knew in advance that Jackie Greene starts an acoustic, THREE day run at the Swedish American Hall and you already got your tickets to these sold out shows...it'll give you goose bumps and you might even find a little balance!! Saturday, we whirl downtown to the Princess's neighborhood and check out The George Lacson Project (*WIN) at 50 Mason...that place is so hip!! Rotate afterwards to where else? The Boom Boom Room for the Funk Revival Orchestra. (*WIN) Brace Yourself....the weekend is not even over yet.... On Sunday, it's the second show of the summer series at Stern Grove. It will be a beautiful day so bring your hula hoop and whirl it to the Jazz Mafia Symphony Featuring Chali 2Na. Then center yourself again so you can rock out hard to An Evening With Chris Robinson Brotherhood at The Great American Music Hall (*WIN) on Sunday night... We keep spinning on into next week with Johnny Mathis at Davies on Monday. Then whirl into Tuesday and Wednesday with DR. DOG at the Independent. Congrats to Matthew T and Harvey P!! Then on Thursday...oh wait...did we mention High Sierra Music Festival??...Or are we just going in circles now? At least we will always land on good music, thanks to the BISS List!! Speaking of good music, let's talk a bit about AFTER High Sierra...we've got Widespread Panic, Buckethead, Jerry Joseph, Rev Horton Heat, & George Clinton...And that's just July 7th - 9th... Then on Saturday, July 16th, is the 6th Annual Far West Fest of West Marin featuring The New Mastersounds, Zion I, Jazz Mafia, Shotgun Wedding, Materialized & more!! Last year we all stayed out there and we should definitely make a plan to do that again. Especially because I hear there may be a Far West AFTER party in the area! Who wants to camp again? I am sure we can avoid getting banned again this year, right? Sunny says...The BISS list is looking as fierce as she is BISS Listers, and that is some serious fierceness, if she does say so herself. Make A Scene with BISS on the third Thursday of Every Month! You never know what special guests might show up!!
