I want to start by reminding you about the best little funk fest coming up in two weeks! FOR THE FUNK OF IT is taking place in Belden, CA August 10th-12th. Belden is a magical town nestled in the Sierra Mountains and tucked away in the Feather River Canyon. Belden Town Resort and Lodge is located on Highway 70, 28 miles west of Quincy, California. The resort offers both indoor and outdoor dining on the outside deck and a fully-stocked bar. Also, worth mentioning though it's a bit far out, is that Thievery Corporation just announced two nights at the Masonic for NYE. Tickets go on sale at 10am tomorrow, Friday 7/27. As always, I have gone thru the overall BISS Calendar of many many shows, and I picked the very best ones and made a list for you below. But before I get to that, I want to highlight a few of the best of the best here... For starters, tonight there are a plethora of options starting with my girl Emily Clark & The Krewe followed by The Drunken Hearts with Nat Keefe at Boom Boom Room. There is also Rooster Conspiracy featuring Eric Krasno, Reed Mathis, Jay Lane and Todd Stoops, Shots Fired featuring DJ Williams, John Staten, Victor Little, and AnDre Mali at The Independent. And we should not forget that The California Honeydrops are playing the first of two nights at The Sweetwater tonight too! If you are a little further North tomorrow, Booker T Jones is at The Mystic in Petaluma. In the East Bay, Charlie Hunter Trio is at The Ivy Room. That should be a real treat in that little room! If you want a little preview of For The Funk Of It on Friday, check out Big Sticky Mess opening up for Funk Revival Orchestra at Boom Boom. Saturday, we get our favorite funky dance party with Ronkat's Katdelic at Boom Boom Room. (It's about damn time!) As a bonus we get to celebrate our friend Shaunna Hall's birthday too!
