Happy Thanksgiving BISS Listers! That's right, the holiday season is upon us which means it's time to start the celebrating! As always, BISS & Elie are kicking off the holiday season with our 9th Annual BISS Holiday Party starring guest Startender Elie Sasson at 7pm on Wednesday, December 6th.
It's always a fun night full of friends, drink specials & holiday cheer. No need to RSVP. No need to dress up. No need for gifts. Just come out, drink some stiffies and socialize with your fellow BISS List followers.
Sorry to jump ahead but at BISS we all get excited about our annual bash. So, let's talk about this week in the Bay Area music scene. After you fill yourselves with Turkey or Tofurkey or maybe even Turducken for Thanksgiving, you might be looking for somewhere to dance it all off. I know I will be!
Here's my definite plan for this weekend and a few I won't miss next week...
Friday, aka Black Friday I am starting out at The Dark Kabaret at The Great Star Theater, San Francisco, @ 7PM. Your host, Paul Nathan (HBO, MTV, Star Trek Voyager), welcomes you to an evening of unbridled passion, music, humor, and artistry.Musical talent includes BISS friends Eric McFadden, Queen Delphine, & Glenn Hartman plus many many more for a night of magic, comedy, music, and erotic entertainment-all in one beautiful room for your pleasure. If you can't make it on Friday, there is still one last chance for this event on Saturday!
After the show, we'll head straight to the Boom Boom Room to get our brains split by another dear & talented BISS friend, RonKat with his band, Katdelic for his Annual Black Friday Party. If there is ever a night that might go late, this is it! Pamela Parker's Fantastic Machine opens.
On Saturday Night, it is no contest (until you check out the Best of the BISS below). But for me and many of you, I know that the party starts and ends on Fillmore St. Karl Denson's Tiny Universe is back at The Fillmore with "Eat a Bunch of Peaches". We have had a lot of contest entries already but have one more pair to award. Be sure to check out the new contest rules (below) and enter by Friday morning!
Then we'll keep the Karl D vibe going across the street at the Boom Boom Room with KDTU's guitar player, DJ Williams' latest project called Shot's Fired featuring members of Karl D, Greyboy, and Slightly Stoopid. DJ's Shot's Fired was a sold-out show at The Boom Boom Room when they played in October so make sure you get your tickets ASAP. Especially considering that it's also The Annual Tie Dye Panty Party with Love on Haight which means, yes, you get to take home a pair of panties! Not to mention that the night kicks off with one of my new favorite Bay Area bands, Crooked Stuff plus DJ Kevvy Kev! Going until 3am.
Next Tuesday is the Send It Foundation Super Jam with Eddie Roberts & Friends featuring Reed Mathis, Wally Ingram, Eric McFadden, Mike Olmos and Joe Cohen at Sweetwater Music Hall. The mission of the Send It Foundation is to inspire positivity, courage, and gratitude in young adult cancer fighters and survivors through the gift of outdoor adventure and community.
Then on Thursday, 11/30, Live 105 Soundcheck Presents our friends & longtime BISS favorite The New Up at Slim's with Devotionals (featuring Two Gallant's Tyson Vogel) plus Live 105 Music Director, Aaron Axelsen Dj'ing. If you haven't seen The New Up yet, they are a female-fronted, electro-rock outfit. The last 12 months have been incredibly great for the band. Following a very successful album release show at Bottom of the Hill for their new recording, Tiny Mirrors, the band was invited to perform at this year's Noise Pop, where they shared a bill with Rogue Wave and Middle Kids at Rickshaw Stop. The New Up then toured the West and East Coasts, and on their return, were asked to play LIVE 105's BFD festival at Shoreline. Opening the night are Fake Your Own Death and Smokin' Ziggurats. WIN TICKETS by spreading the word!
The BISS Team is hard at work every week adding tons of shows to the BISS Calendar that we think you might want to check out from now thru June of 2018 all over the Bay Area from Santa Cruz to Oakland and all the way to Sebastopol. However, we have narrowed that down to this short list of shows that we like to call...
