It's exactly midnight on Thursday, February 22nd... so most importantly, Happy Birthday Elie!!  I thought maybe this week, I would get BISS out to you early on Monday or Tuesday night. Maybe, if I spit this out quickly, we can still call it Wednesday night... It's not really tomorrow until you go to bed, right?   This week wasn't busy with Mardi Gras or Valentine's Day, so I thought I might try to help Phil out a little cause I know how hard it is to keep our calendar updated every week. (Thank you Phil!) I decided to put some extra time into scouring venue calendars and other resources for upcoming shows.  There is some good stuff coming up! The Fillmore alone has 30 shows on the BISS Calendar now (http://bit.ly/bisslistcalendar). Altogether, there are 294 upcoming shows that I just imported into the BISS Google Calendar from all over the Bay Area thru as far out as August.  Just the fact that you follow this list, I have no doubt that you will find something you like that you didn't know about!  This week(end), I personally have two events that I will not miss... It's been quite a week, hasn't it friends?  The Mardi Gras parade from Patrica's Green to Brick and Mortar was awesome as always. Then we hopped back and forth from Jazz Mafia to Zigaboo to Chali 2 na!  Valentine's day was LOVEly. (Especially if you were able to avoid the news) So here we are at Thursday and heading for the weekend and ready for this week's BISS... I am sure all you Phish Phreaks are at the Indy right now for Mike Gordon and you probably spent your Valentine's day there too, didn't you? Let's talk about the weekend... More specifically, let's talk about MY weekend plans...  Then I'll give you my short list of the best of the BISS and you can choose your own adventure. Friday, there are a lot of choices for good music around the bay from Lotus at UC Theatre (*WIN*) to Dark Star Orchestra at the Warfield (*WIN*) to Lettuce AND Motet at The Fox.  For me, it's a no brainer cause I'm a huge Motet fan and a huge Lettuce fan. So that's where I will be for sure! When we get back to the city, we'll be heading straight for Mike Clark, Donald Harrison & Wil Blades at the Boom Boom Room (*WIN*). Saturday night, we're crossing a bridge again, this time going north, for the SECOND of two nights of looooong time favorite, Monophonics at Sweetwater (*WIN). Lucky for us, the Sweetwater tends to end early and no doubt that another looooong time fave, Ronkat's Katdelic, will start late (guessing the usual, 11:45) at the Boom Boom Room (*WIN*). We should have plenty of time to get to the BBR and have our brains split at least once before they end (guessing the usual, 2:45am).  Bottom line? It's been two years since Miss BISS was ready and able to take the lead in the annual Mardi Gras parade from Patricia's Green (that's the park on Octavia at Hayes) to Brick and Mortar. Happy February! You know what that means? We're done celebrating and recovering from the holidays and the new year. Not to mention we are all (hopefully) recovered from the coughs, colds and flus! So NOW it's really time to kick off 2018. ** I don't really like to "declare" resolutions. They are like rules... and what are rules? ...Just waiting to be broken. So, here comes February. Sober February? Healthy February? If I were going to try to eat healthier or work out more, it's easier to start in February, right?   No. Not just because it's shorter. It truly makes more sense. By the time you get to February, you have done all the toasting to the new year that you are gonna do.  Why set yourself up to fail? If I were gonna "declare" a resolution, I think it would be "more hang time in 2018". And I might also resolve to get out for more shows in 2018. I am not the 3-5 show per night and 4-5 night a week Miss BISS I used to be... but with a little help from all of you on the BISS crew, we rep at all the best shows across the bay! So get ready, set, & go! If you are receiving this late on Tuesday night, then I was probably home finishing this newsletter and not at Phil Lesh & Friends featuring Karl Denson, Chris Gelbuda, Scott Metzger, John Molo, Robert Randolph & Barry Sless at Terrapin Crossroads.  So we don't get to hang tonight... As luck would have it, they are doing it again Wednesday at Terrapin so I get a second chance tomorrow for Phil Lesh & Friends featuring Karl Denson, Chris Gelbuda, Scott Metzger, John Molo, Robert Randolph & Barry Sless.  It's sold out though so not sure I will be able to hang out with you there. #nohangtime I would really like to see Kendra Morris tomorrow night at Brick and Mortar so we might be happy to stay in the city.
