It's been quite a week, hasn't it friends? The Mardi Gras parade from Patrica's Green to Brick and Mortar was awesome as always. Then we hopped back and forth from Jazz Mafia to Zigaboo to Chali 2 na! Valentine's day was LOVEly. (Especially if you were able to avoid the news) So here we are at Thursday and heading for the weekend and ready for this week's BISS...
I am sure all you Phish Phreaks are at the Indy right now for Mike Gordon and you probably spent your Valentine's day there too, didn't you?
Let's talk about the weekend... More specifically, let's talk about MY weekend plans... Then I'll give you my short list of the best of the BISS and you can choose your own adventure.
Friday, there are a lot of choices for good music around the bay from Lotus at UC Theatre (*WIN*) to Dark Star Orchestra at the Warfield (*WIN*) to Lettuce AND Motet at The Fox. For me, it's a no brainer cause I'm a huge Motet fan and a huge Lettuce fan. So that's where I will be for sure! When we get back to the city, we'll be heading straight for Mike Clark, Donald Harrison & Wil Blades at the Boom Boom Room (*WIN*).
Saturday night, we're crossing a bridge again, this time going north, for the SECOND of two nights of looooong time favorite, Monophonics at Sweetwater (*WIN). Lucky for us, the Sweetwater tends to end early and no doubt that another looooong time fave, Ronkat's Katdelic, will start late (guessing the usual, 11:45) at the Boom Boom Room (*WIN*). We should have plenty of time to get to the BBR and have our brains split at least once before they end (guessing the usual, 2:45am). Bottom line? Check out the picks of the week below and go where you choose, but let's meet at the Boom Boom for last call and a solid get down...
Sunday, what shall we do? Sleep? Work? More music? Build a dresser? Dead Winter Carpenters at Freight & Salvage? ALO + JOHN CRAIGIE at Hopmonk? Return Of The Cypher at BBR? Wil Blades at Madrone?
